Community not cliques…
The “Seed Of Life” is a symbol of blessing and protection passed through generations; it contains the secret of the seven days of creation.
The sacred space of our studio is designed to house the incubation of fruitful and fertile thoughts, actions, and collective consciousness... a place to heal through movement and sensual awakening; a place to raise vibration, individually and as one.
There is believed to be a secret symbol hidden within the Flower of Life or Seed of Life symbol, which is said to hold the most significant and sacred patterns of the universe. It is believed to be a sort of blueprint for all life, with the fundamental patterns for everything from atoms to planets and everything in between.
We truly are all one.
But.. unfortunately, the world of pole dancing can be quite clique-y. And for some women (and studios), the need to cling to certain narratives and identificational totems feels safer than unpacking the choices and events that herded them there in the first place. With the constant examination of the dynamics of studios and movement facilities on social media platforms, there, unknowingly to some, is a long lingering rival between spaces aligning with the different subcategories of pole ( fitness, sensual, and exotic) in a who’s more legit than who battle. We see it A LOT in the stripper vs. pole dancer conflict. Hobbyists and healers turned studio owners forced to explain themselves to strippers, strippers feeling underrepresented and bypassed by studio owners, thought-leaders, and sex workers being questioned on their intelligence and validity on topics they themselves have been embodying for years. Whether or not you’re aware of it...it gets pretty intense out there, at least in IG land.
We ain’t got time for that shit.
Somewhere along the way, we forget. When trauma and the desperate need to belong takes over...we literally forget, even as adults, that at the end of the day, we are all one; carbon, water, and a whole lot of soul. We forget that the exact reason we were drawn to spaces of feminine rising conjuring the courage to finally sign up for that damn class, was to strip ourselves of those narratives that had us eating alone at the lunch table or buying that stupid pair of way too expensive ripped jeans to fit in with the “popular” girls. Somewhere along the way, we forgot that we are all built the same and we are here together.
When I dreamed up this space, I envisioned the smiling faces, laughter, and tears even, that would be shared between these laminate and ceiling to floor mirrors, together. That no matter your background, the story you’re re-writing, or the baggage you still carry, Thrive Embodied Arts of New Jersey, would be a place where people could come together and unpack their shit. Heal through movement, reconnect through sensuality, and learn how to live a life full of abundance and gratitude, freeing themselves from the day to day autopilot of survival mode. I wanted Thrive Embodied Arts to be a place to exhale; an entire frequency to tune your life to.
Our Seed of Life logo is a reminder of all the values that this space embodies. A reminder that community and sisterhood catalyzes healing and that movement is medicine. A reminder that you belong here exactly as you are because you are whole from the moment you walk in the door, from the moment you leave, and all the moments in between. A reminder that both light and dark, you embody the divine power to create the life you want from the depths of what you are. A reminder that though we are deeply unique and beautifully different, we are all one.
