WTF is “doing the work”
Unpopular opinion, we are not talking about that “good vibes only” kinda of spiritual bypassing….
First and foremost, doing the work will never look the same on anyone. It’s not a prescription or a pain patch and there’s no pre requisites. It’s kinda like a series of trial and error truthfully; with time you’ll find what serves you best.
Doing the work is an eloquent way of saying “time to unpack the shit that’s been weighing me down”… and maybe even the people too. It’s a pact of being accountable for your own healing, enlightenment or awakening. It’s studying the crystals, doing the spells, engaging in the shadow work (it’s ALOT of shadow work), having the conversations, booking the therapy AND the pole class… the vacation even…and then consciously integrating that into what you desire or wish to elevate vibrationally in your existence… for joy, peace, self love, or whatever it is that you truly value to live a full life. ✨
It’s creating the boundaries, not the barriers and remembering that healing is verb that requires action, and stillness too. ✨
It’s saying “I see you, I feel you, but it’s no longer time for you to stay with me and dictate my life” to trauma. ✨
It’s messy, it’s trying and it’s not for everyone (well we think it is), but it’s so worth it. So… “what work do I have to do?” You say. Great question, we’re so happy you asked it, because that is truly the first step.
Doing the work is setting out on a pursuit of happiness and healing.
And, unpopular opinion, we are not talking about that “good vibes only” kinda of spiritual bypassing.
From a traditional, physical standpoint, “doing work refers to pushing, pulling, lifting, turning, and twisting.” We can start to see how a movement practice catalyzes and supports this, but the work we are talking about here…lives within. It’s deep and it’s energetic, somatic and psychological. It comes from the ability to push through your fears (ask yourself why you keep telling yourself you can’t!) pull from the strength within (give yourself some time to be), lift yourself up towards a higher version of you (dare to ask yourself what you really want!), turn inward (find stillness and reflection), and untangle or unlearn from that which twisted you away from the naturally wild, untamed state of your being; before the world told you who you could or couldn’t be. (LET HER OUT! it’s time to play!). It’s staring trauma in the face and peeling if off like a wet suit and kindly, gently our loudly telling it to fuck right off.
It’s allowing yourself to no longer be defined, condensed or suffocated by that trauma.
Doing the work is owning your power, and using it to manifest and co-create the world you exist in along with the universe, or whatever ever power you subscribe to.
It’s seeing yourself, and maybe all the shit you’ve experienced, with loving eyes, gratitude and appreciation.
It’s showing up for yourself, taking rest for yourself, creating healthy boundaries for yourself.
ALLOWING YOURSELF TO RECEIVE!
It’s being unapologetically and authentically you. And liking it.
It’s not knowing what F that even means yet, but knowing you want to live a life in which you do.
Fuck… it’s feels like a lot. And it should. You do not need to figure it out all at once. It’s vulnerable, and that’s what makes it transformative and beautiful. And after all… What is more important than facilitating your own healing?
Let me leave you with one thing… Don’t be afraid of how good it could feel to live life. To live in presence and gratitude and joy…. Pleasure and play. There’s so much waiting for you there.
Be kind to yourself. This shit takes time and effort and you will redefine it again and again. The first step is knowing that it’s time.
